About the SSF

The Forum is a membership organisation for the over 55s in the Borough of Swindon. It is run by a management committee of volunteers elected by the members.  See Documents for our Constitution, policies and information leaflets (to come).

Membership

Membership is free, on completion of a simple joining form available from the Secretary (see Contact Us).

In The Beginning

In 2011 David Brown, representing the retired community service volunteers, and Carol Brownlee, representing Swindon Walcot and Parks Community Group, were invited to the South West Seniors Forum conference in Taunton. Since there was nothing like this going on in Swindon, they decided they would try to set up something along similar lines. The Forum was thus established, under the name of Swindon Older Peoples Forum (SOPF). The name was changed by agreement of the members in 2016.

Over the years the Forum has grown in membership, scope and influence.
